- Can easily play some lightweight games but you can’t perform heavy demanding like. You can check my post here where I have recommended some good laptops for game enthusiasts.
Other than that, most of the laptops can easily run common software without any issues. You don’t need to worry about that.
If you are looking for a laptop suitable for your professions like Teacher or Writer, then check out my Buyers Guides. I have recommended top laptops for separate professions.
Best Laptops Under $700 of 2021
You may have already heard about the Acer Aspire E15 previously but this is the latest version released in October 2017 and with few important changes. If you are looking for a good value for money laptop under 700, then I have to admit, no one comes to this amazing laptop and I’ll tell you why.
Not only $700, this one of good laptop you can get under $600 in the market right now.
This notebook has a 15.6 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920×1080. This is a 60 Hertz Panel that has good color reproduction and viewing angles. It doesn’t have the best display on the market but for $600, this is really a good display in my opinion. The build quality of the laptop is excellent and the design is fine for this price. Honestly, You can’t expect a world-class design in a $600 notebook.
When it comes to storage, You’ll get 256GB SATA SSD. But do you know the surprising part of it?
Yes, that’s right.
The Acer E15 boots up the system in less than 10 seconds which is pretty extraordinary for a 600 dollar laptop.
Apart from that, almost every program runs smoothly on this machine. If you think the 256GB won’t be enough for you, you can add more memory in a blank slot offered on the notebook. You can either add an SSD or HDD in the slot which generally suits you.
One of the major differences between the previous-gen E15 and the new one is the CPU. It has been upgraded from Intel Core i5-7200U Processor to Intel Core i5-8250U which will obviously perform better than the older one.
The 8GB DDR3 RAM handles most of the multi-tasking easily without any issues. There is one extra slot available on the laptop to add more RAM to the laptop If you want more fast performance from this beast. It’ll cost you around $90 on Amazon.
Another most interesting thing about the Aspire E15 is it offers a gaming experience with a dedicated GPU i.e GeForce MX150 with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM. It is pretty rare to find a laptop with a dedicated GPU at this price range.
You can’t expect it to play very high-demanding games because it isn’t a powerful GPU out there but it can some lightweight games at a decent frame rate.
The port selection by Acer on this laptop is good and it has all the important ports which an average consumer would need.
Apart from that, it has an optical drive which isn’t used by many people these days but it can be useful sometimes.
It’s pretty hard to find a notebook with a backlit keyboard for just $600 but Acer has managed to offer this amazing feature at this price.
And Finally, the battery life.
Acer has claimed that it can last up to 15 hours but it is not the case. You can expect 5-6 hours of battery while using the laptop in 100% brightness. If you use the laptop in lower brightness, you expect at least 8 hours.
- Best value for money laptop.
- Decent performance.
- Good battery life.
- Heats up a little while gaming.
- Slightly heavy.
I have already talked about the Lenovo Y700 here but there are few specs differences between those models and also the price difference between these two models is $350. Which makes it one of the best laptops under 700 dollars for its price.
If you can spend $350 more from your pocket, you’ll get better specs and hardware. But for the price of $700, this laptop is one of the best in the market.
I’ll talk about 4 major differences of these laptops and I’ll move on to explain to you why this is a top laptop for 700 dollars.
- The Lenovo Y700 I’m going to talk about is having a slightly weaker CPU i.e Intel Core i5 6300HQ compared to the newer one which has Intel Core i7 6th Gen 6700HQ
- The $700 Y700 has 12GB DDR3 RAM and the $1000 Y700 has 16GB DDR4 RAM.
- The $1000 laptop has slightly powerful GPU i.e GTX 960M (4GB VRAM) compared to the GTX 950M (4GB VRAM).
- The $1000 model offers 1TB HDD whereas the $700 model doesn’t.
I’m not boasting about the $1000 model and try to convince you to get that model. I know you have just $700 budget but All I’m saying is If you have $350 more, you should get that model or else you can get the $700 model which has pretty good things too which I’m going to talk below.
The Lenovo Ideapad 700 has 15.6 Inch IPS display with a matte finish which has decent viewing angles and color reproduction.
When it comes to storage, it has 256GB SSD and 12GB RAM. Both are upgradeable. As I said before, It has a slightly slower processor i.e 6th Gen Core i5 but it can easily perform browsing, MS excel/ word/ PowerPoint, and much other common software without having performance issues. The 3DMark score of this laptop is 14,846.
As you may already know, this is just an entry-level gaming laptop that has a dedicated GTX 950M graphics card. This GPU can play some low demanding at good frame rates but you shouldn’t expect to play high demanding games on this laptop.
It is good to see a laptop that offers a dedicated GPU at this price because even an expensive laptop like Razer Blade Stealth doesn’t offer a dedicated GPU.
As you can see, there is no USB Type-C port available which was available in Aspire E15. But If you don’t care about ports a lot, then you won’t have any issues with that.
And lastly, the battery life.
Lenovo claims it can last up to 4 hours and that’s actually true. In fact, if you use the laptop by lowering the brightness you can expect a little more than that. While gaming, you can expect around 1-2 hours of battery life.
- Perfect for general usage and lightweight gaming.
- Good display
- Slightly slower processor in 20192.
If you are looking for a laptop for regular usage along with casual gaming, then you should stop right here and have a look at this powerful machine.
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5577 is one of the best gaming laptops under 700 dollars you can get right now and I have to say it’s worth every single penny because it offers some amazing specs which no other laptop can offer at this price.
The laptop comes with a 15.6 full HD TN panel which has decent viewing angles but not so great color accuracy. This is the only downside of this laptop. Other than that, there is nothing to complain about. If you too picky about the color accuracy of the laptop, then this laptop might not be suitable for you. If you are okay with the decent display, then you should continue reading about this laptop.
The body of the laptop is mostly made out of plastic but still, it is very rigid and feels premium. I must say it’s a well-made laptop by considering the quality of the body. The red accent on the top gives a gaming feel to the laptop.
By default, Inspiron 15 comes with 8GB DDR4 RAM. If you want faster performance, then there is an extra slot available on the laptop to add more RAM. You can add RAM up to 32GB by adding 2 16GB sticks in two different slots. The 1TB HDD storage would be enough these days.
The CPU inside the laptop offered is Intel Quad-Core i5-7300HQ which performs reasonably well and the multitasking on this machine isn’t a big deal at all. You can use Google Chrome, watch movies, edit photos/ videos at once without any issues at all.
The Inspiron 5000 comes with a dedicated graphics card i.e NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB. The above laptops have also offered the same but GTX 1050 is way powerful than GTX 950M or MX150. That’s why I think this is one of the best laptops you can under $650
Here are the real world gaming test results of this laptop.
Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5577 gaming performance
If you want more information about the gaming test of this laptop, check out this video where 10 games have been tested. Most of the popular games can be played at good frame rates on this laptop.
Just to remind you, the Acer Aspire E15 , Lenovo Ideapad Y700 and Dell Inspiron 5000 are the only laptops on this laptop which offers dedicated GPU. No other laptops offer discrete GPU for gaming. So keep this mind If you are expecting a gaming experience in a $700 laptop.
One of the good things about the laptop is it comes with less bloatware which is a good thing because many people got irritated by lots of unwanted software on their newer laptops.
The Red backlit keyboard on this laptop is bright and it’ll help you while play games at night.
Dell Inspiron 15 5000 5577 ports
Not a bad port selection, Right?
And at last, the battery life.
For non-gamers, you can expect up to 6-8 hours of battery life by doing some simple and basic tasks. For gamers, the maximum battery life you can get on this laptop is 2-2.5 hours which is very usual in a gaming machine.
- Dedicated NVIDIA GTX 1050 4GB.
- Good battery life.
- Solid build quality.
- Average display.
- Poor audio quality via speakers.
The appearance of the laptop is not stylish and actually, it isn’t. It is more of a professional looking laptop rather than a stylish laptop. The build quality of the laptop is excellent and you can expect to last it longer.
It has a resolution of 1366×768. This is the only laptop on this list which is a difference in the resolution. If you aren’t okay with this resolution, then you may choose any other laptop.
The images and videos are sharp and crystal clear and you’ll have no problem with the display quality at all. Sure, this laptop doesn’t have the best display on the market like XPS 15 but you’ll have to pay double the price than this to get that. The ThinkPad Edge E570 has a decent display for its price.
When it comes to storage options, you’ll have lots of variety to choose from but the prices will increase/ decrease based on your preferred storage. I’ll recommend you get 8GB DDR4 RAM, 500GB 7200RPM which comes with Intel i5-7200U Processor.
If you can spend $80 more than your current budget, you’ll get 240GB SSD memory instead of a hard disk.
Think twice before choosing the storage option.
If you are going to get the laptop to watch movies and use Google Chrome, then you’ll have no issues with any of the storage options. But if you want a laptop for business-related tasks, programming, or any other stuff, then I would recommend you to get the SSD model.
You can expect 4 hours of standard battery life which is decent for its price.
- Build quality is very good.
- Decent performance.
- Design should have been better
I’ll be honest with you. This is a $700 laptop but to say its exact price, it is $749. I know you have a budget of only $700, but if you spend $49 you’ll never regret it for sure. I couldn’t resist recommending this laptop to my readers and that’s the reason I have added it to the list.
Based on the specs, it matches with the giant Dell XPS 13 but you can save at least $200-$300 with this one. In some areas, it offers better than the XPS 13 too.
The Asus Zenbook UX330UA has an amazing 13.3 Inch IPS Full HD display with a matte finish that is bright and sharp. If you use the laptop outdoors, you will not have a problem with the reflection at all. You are free to use the laptop in sunny areas without thinking too much about the screen reflection. The lid in the laptop is pretty thin so you can open it using a single hand.
The only concerning thing about the screen is it doesn’t have good viewing angles. Other than that, no issues at all. The sRGB rating of the display is 96% and the Adobe RGB rating is 75%.
Asus Zenbook UX330UA-AH55 weight
Yes, that’s right.
The Zenbook UX300UA weighs only 2.6 pounds which is slightly more than 1kg. You can easily carry such a laptop to the office, college, school, or any other place. If you are looking for the best portable laptop for $700, then you should stop your search because this is the best option for you right now.
It comes with Intel’s 8th Gen Intel i5-8250U Processor with 8GB LPDDR3 RAM. Along with that, it comes with a 256GB SSD. The laptop performs extremely fast with the latest processor and you can easily perform multitasking without worrying about the tabs. Unfortunately, you can’t upgrade the ram on this laptop but you can upgrade the SSD memory if the 256GB isn’t enough for you.
You can’t expect to play games on this laptop because it comes with Intel’s integrated graphics card but you can play some old games like league of legends at decent frame rates.
There are no compromises in the port on this laptop. On the right side, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C, and a mini HDMI port. On the left side, there is 1 USB 3.0 and a full-size SD card slot.
One of the unique features Asus has offered on this laptop is a Fingerprint scanner.
Asus Zenbook UX330UA-AH55 battery life
A lightweight laptop with at least 10 hours of battery life under $750. I think now you can understand now why I added this laptop to this list.
Asus claims, it can last up to 12 hours but Justin has clarified that it has lasted 11 hours with the basic usage. If you are that kind of a person, I can assure you that it can last at least 10 hours with a single charge.

This is another 13-inch ultrabook which you can get for $700 with its decent specs. Sure, this isn’t the latest laptop out there in the market but it does have quality specs to offer in your budget i.e $700.
Just like the above Zenbook, the Lenovo IdeaPad 710S also competes with 2016’s XPS 13 which has similar specs but costs more than this Ideapad.
It has 13.3 inches full HD display with a matte finish. The above Zenbook doesn’t have great viewing angles but this laptop does.
But you know what the crazy part is?
It has few bezels similar to XPS 13. Its very hard to find a bezel-less display at this price and If you like this type of display, then this is one of the best options you have right now. Another good thing about the laptops is it has good build quality
The laptop comes with 8GB DDR3 RAM and an Intel Core i7-6560U Processor which is capable of handling more than basic stuff like browsing and multimedia. You can push the laptop to perform some heavy tasks like editing 1080P videos and it’ll do just fine. The SSD storage of the laptop is 256GB which seems quite slow but you can upgrade/ replace it but the RAM isn’t replaceable though.
Apart from general usage, the Intel Iris Graphics 540 integrated can help you play some games like CS: GO or Overwatch at very low settings but don’t expect it to perform other HD games because it isn’t a gaming laptop at all.
Here comes the most interesting part of the laptop, its weight.
It weighs exactly the same as the above Zenbook i.e 2.6 pounds but I entitled the Zenbook as the best ultrabook for $700 due to its better specification But the Ideapad is very good in its own way. The best thing about having a lightweight and portable laptop is you don’t need to carry a laptop backpack with you.
There are 2 USB 3.0, a full-size SD card slot, and a mini HDMI port available on this laptop. There is no USB Type-C available on this laptop. Lenovo should have offered the USB Type-C for this price.
The trackpad on this laptop is made of glass and it works fine. It may not have the best trackpad like XPS 13 but it does the job for you. The keyboard is backlit and works pretty well. It is always good to have a backlit keyboard on any laptop. The JBL speakers offered on this laptop works well.
And finally, the battery life. With the moderate usage, you can expect battery life on this laptop from 6-7 hours which is above average. I think most people would be happy with this.
- Excellent design.
- Decent battery life.
- NO USB Type-C
This is one of the best and beautiful convertible laptops you can get for $760. I know this is $60 more than your budget but the price of this laptop has reduced from $1000 that’s why I wanted to recommend this laptop to those who have slightly more budget than $700.
If you don’t want a convertible laptop or don’t have the budget a little more than $700, then you can skip this and move on to the next laptop on this list.
This is a 15.6 Inch laptop from HP which comes with a full HD IPS touchscreen display.
Yes, that’s right. This is a touchscreen laptop that can be used as both laptop or a tablet. You can rotate the HP Envy x360 to any degree (360 degrees). Professions this laptop is good for,
In my opinion, this laptop could be more suitable for these appropriate professions. A general user may not use a laptop with a touchscreen or even a convertible one.
The viewing angles of this laptop are decent but not great though.
The beautiful HP Envy X360 comes with 12GB DDR3 RAM along with powerful Intel’s 7th Gen Core i7 processor. The storage you’ll be getting on this laptop is 1TB 5400RPM HDD which is quite slow these days but there is an open slot available on this machine to add an SSD storage which will pretty much boost the performance of the laptop.
Though this laptop doesn’t have a dedicated GPU you can expect a slightly faster gaming performance on this laptop than the above Ideapad due to slightly better GPU i.e Intel UHD Graphics 620.
When it comes to I/O, there are 3 USB 3.0, 1 USB 3.0 USB Type-C, HDMI, Mini display port and full-sized SD card reader are available on this laptop.
The keyboard experience on this laptop is great which has backlit too and it has a full-sized numeric keypad. The dual speakers on this laptop are from Bang & Olufsen which produces decent enough noise.
Even though a touchscreen laptop consumes more energy still this HP Envy can manage to you 6 hours of battery life on average.
- Beautiful design and good build quality.
- Good battery life.
- Decent performance.
- Not suitable for everyone.
This is a new 2-in-1 laptop from Dell which was released in September 2017. So this isn’t an old laptop at all. This is one of the best convertible laptops under 700 you can right now.
The laptop is made mostly out of plastic but it feels sturdy and doesn’t feel cheap. The overall build quality is very good and there isn’t anything to complain about that.
The difference between the above HP Envy and this laptop is, it has a 13.3-inch display instead of 15.6 inches but both laptops have touchscreen displays. The display is IPS and the color saturation of the display is excellent.
The Dell Inspiron comes with 8GB DDR4 RAM which can easily perform very well but If you want to improve the performance of the laptop, you can add extra RAM (up to 32GB) in an empty slot. I have already said that it will cost you around $90 to get 8GB RAM on Amazon.
There is one storage option offered on this laptop i.e 1TB 5400RPM HDD. There is a slot available to add SSD/ HDD on this machine. But you can replace the existing hard disk to add an SSD memory if you want faster performance.
One of the best things about the Inspiron is, it comes with Intel’s latest processor i.e 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U Processor. Gets really hot when used for intense tasks. . Even after heating up a lot, the noise remains quite low so that’s a good sign in my opinion.
It has the same graphics as the above HP Envy i.e Intel Graphics 620 so there is nothing special here.
The Dell Inspiron 13 is a fairly portable machine that weighs 3.4 pounds or 1.5Kg.
These days many people prefer a laptop with backlit because of late-night jobs or for entertainment. The I/O selection has been pretty decent I would say.
The battery for this laptop is able to last up to 7.5 hours. Overall I would say, you can expect 5-6 hours of battery life If you are into multimedia or browsing the web.
- Decent battery life.
- Can upgrade the RAM
- Gets very hot sometimes
Final words of the Best Laptops under 700 dollars
